Info overload: NBI Clearance center at Robinson's Otis, Manila

NBI Clearance center at Robinson Otis

A year after my last process of NBI clearance, here i am again getting a renewed one which is a significant requirement for some matter i am currently dealing with. Before, if you have the green NBI Renewal Clearance ID, it would be a breeze getting it, you just have to go to NBI Clearance center, look for their kiosk, insert your renewal id, insert payment and prepare for photo capture, biometrics then whoala...your clearance will be printed out and ready for around 10 minutes. But nowadays, it's back to the old procedure requiring you to wait in long queues and take the whole process for more or less three to four hours. NBI doesn't have that kiosk anymore and as per news, they said that it didn't renew the contract of the company.

Anyway, i chose to go to Robinson's Otis because as per friend's advice, few people go here for their clearance unlike the other clearance centers found in other Robinson malls where they have to go as early as 6:00am and wait in line. So since i am very confident that i'll get my clearance within four hours, i went there around 12 noon. Please be informed that the office hours of NBI is from 10 am to 7 pm during weekdays and saturday. Coming from Santa Cruz, Manila, i took a jeepney ride bound to SM Manila- at the other entrance of SM Manila (the one near KFC and Krispy Kreme), there is a bus outside bound to Pandacan. You tell the ticket boy to drop you off Robinson's Otis. Bus fare is P12.00. When you arrived at Robinson's Otis, go directly to the 2nd floor and in front of CDR King-you'll find the waiting area. If there's a long queue, you'll find people seated/standing in queue waiting to be called in group by the NBI Staff. (Might as well bring something that will entertain you while waiting for your turn.) Forms are distributed by the NBI Staff. And by the way, don't forget to bring ID's (Previous NBI Clearance, Company ID, SSS ID, PRC ID, etc.,)

Details in the form are stated below:
a) Personal details such as:
    - Name; Birthdate; Present address; Nickname; Sex; Civil status; Place of Birth;
       Highest Educational Attainment; Occupation; Contact number; Email address; Scars/marks;
       Height in Feet/cm; Weight in lbs/kg; Religion; Complexion; Name and Birthplace of spouse;
       Name and birthplace of mother and father

b) For those who are Aliens/foreigners (additional information are needed):
    - Passport or ARC Name; Address Abroad; Passport number, date and place issued;
      ACR number, date and place issued

An NBI staff will signal your batch for your turn to proceed to the Lingkod Pinoy Center (NBI Clearance center) area, which is just in between Pick n' Save and Home decor. You will now have to go through the FIRST STEP- PAYMENT, pay processing fee corresponding the purpose of the clearance. I took a photo of the fees listed on a paper near the cashier/payment counter.

List of Processing fees for different purposes

After payment, counter will provide you official receipt and will sign your form. Then you may wait or proceed to the SECOND STEP- ENCODING, you have to provide your signed form then as the encoder inputs your details to the system kindly check the monitor facing you so you'll know if he/she encoded it correctly. Like mine for example, this lady forgot to include the first name of our street on the address field and jumped to the birth date field, told her that she forgot to add it, she didn't respond, she filled the day and month of my birth date and again called her attention. She said, "SANDALI LANG! kelangan ko munang lagyan ng information tong birthday mo bago makabalik sa address. Hindi ako makakapagtype sa address ulit pag di ko natapos tong birthday mo. Tingnan mo!". Then she click on the address field and whoala, she was able to see the cursor and typed the missing info. She embarrassed herself and i just said, "ohhhh really!" :)

So anyway, after encoding you will now have to proceed to the THIRD STEP- BIOMETRICS, here you will have to submit again your form and official receipt to the person in charge, and you will be asked to scan your right hand fingers first (you'll hear yes- if the scan is good; hear no- if you have to repeat it again), then your left hand fingers. Last part of the biometrics is the photo capture, wherein you just have to move backward a little and smile/or not. :) The form will now be maintained by the biometrics person-in-charge, while your official receipt will be returned to you for the last step. If you don't have any date written at the back of your receipt then you are lucky because you may now proceed to the LAST STEP- RELEASING. Wait for your surname to be called and receive your NBI Clearance with smile on your faces. However, for those who have numbers written at the back of their official receipt, it means that they can get their clearance on that date This happens because there are other persons who have the same name so lucky for you if your name's unique- they called this "HIT". If you have that kind of situation and you don't have a chance to get your clearance personally, you may authorize someone to get it for you on the date indicated at the back of the OR. Have that person brings your authorization letter as well as a photocopy of your ID when he/she claims the clearance for you.

I arrived at 12:45 pm and finished at around 4:15pm, and that's because there are quite a number of people that day who processed their NBI Clearance. So if you want to get it earlier, might as well be there earlier too. :)

I hope i was able to give you the information you need, if you have any questions/comments, please feel free to share.
